The 青青草视频 Brain Bowl teams A and B became FCSAA (Florida State College System Activities Association) East Central Regional Champion and Runner-up, respectively, this past weekend.
The teams traveled to the State College of Florida Jacksonville Deerwood campus on Saturday, accompanied by coach Asha Brunings. Team A was undefeated with an impressive 502 points per game average, while team B lost to team A but won all other matches. These results automatically qualify both SF teams for the FCSAA Brain Bowl State Championship Tournament, which will be held at the end of March in Winter Park, Florida. SF students also took up the top 4 individual ranking spots: Griffin Lora (112 points per game) won top honors, followed by Kirill Oliferenko in second place (53 ppg), Lili Hart in third (48 ppg), and Linus Griffin in fourth place (37 ppg).
Two weeks ago, the two teams also qualified for the NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournaments) Community College Championship tournament (CCCT) when the SF-A team placed second and the SF-B team placed 6th at the NAQT Florida Sectional Tournament hosted at SF. The CCCT will be at the end of February in Chicago, IL.
鈥淲e have two phenomenal teams this year,鈥 said Brunings. 鈥淥ur team members complement each other well. It's fun to see students excel at this high level.鈥
