SF Fine Arts Events This Week: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and the Student Art Show

Benefiting from strong community backing, Ƶ's Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology program is expanding its reach on local, national and international levels. This week's offerings showcase the program's commitment.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
The Ƶ Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department invites audiences to experience the magic and comedy of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” William Shakespeare’s beloved play. This production, directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Matthew Lindsay, marks the first full-length Shakespeare performance on the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall stage.
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 18, 19, 25 and 26 at the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall, 3000 Northwest 83 Street, Gainesville.
Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for seniors, students, military service members, and children 12 and under, and free for Ƶ students, faculty, and staff with a college ID. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Hall Box Office at 352-395-4181 or online at .
Student Art Show
The Ƶ Gallery will host the annual , a juried exhibition showcasing artwork from the college’s visual arts classes. The show features pieces in painting, ceramics, 2D and 3D design, drawing, photography and more. Ƶ faculty serve as jurors, selecting works that highlight students’ creativity and technical skill.
The exhibition opens with a reception and award ceremony on Friday, April 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., with cash prizes awarded at 7:30 p.m. Custom Caterers will provide refreshments. The show runs through May 2 at the Ƶ Gallery (Building M, Room 147), located at 3000 Northwest 83 Street, Gainesville.
