青青草视频's Professional Development Day for faculty and staff is Friday, March 28, 2025, on the Northwest Campus. The theme is Thrive Together; Bridges to Belonging.

We will welcome special guest speaker , whose presentation is The Power of Agency: Creating Conditions for All Students to Thrive.

Dr. Kundu, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Florida International University, is a recognized author, scholar, educator and speaker on the topic of helping young people develop agency to overcome negative and even overwhelming odds.

The day also will be filled with presentations from colleagues ranging from personal and professional development to college initiatives and student success strategies.

The day begins at 8 a.m. with coffee and pastry in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall Lobby. The formal program begins at 9 a.m. in the Auditorium.

What Can Dogs Teach Us About Leadership? Some of our greatest teachers have been dogs. This session will explore innate and learned behaviors of dogs which shed light on leadership traits that humans can learn and benefit from. Attributes such as confidence, courage, empathy, loyalty, trust, and adaptability are common in dogs鈥攁nd they are inherent in good leaders. Attend this session if you want to bark up the right tree.
Amplifying Voices: SF Students Tell Us What Helps Them Succeed Learning from and collaborating with students to promote their success embodies what we do here at Santa Fe. Listen as students, through survey data and in their own voices, tell us of their challenges, their experiences, and what helps them to succeed. We amplify student voices to help guide and shape our teaching practices and institutional processes, thus creating a more responsive, inclusive, and effective learning environment for everyone.
Step into Another World with Virtual Production The Digital Media Technology program and Educational Media Studio will host an immersive demonstration in the new Virtual Production teaching studio. We will demo this state-of-the-art technology and show you how virtual production is changing the landscape of multimedia production from filmmaking and music videos to commercials and much more. Financial Wellness in Today鈥檚 Economy Taking care of your finances requires you to understand the trends, challenges, and opportunities in today鈥檚 economy. In this session, we will provide an overview of: 1) foundations for financial wellness; 2) investing in an uncertain market; 3) using financial tools; and 4) mental/emotional aspects of financial wellness. We will help you discover ways of planning your career and maximizing your income growth.
Bridges of Collaboration How can we be in the business of building bridges and connections? It starts with the questions we ask and the perceptions we have of the challenges we face. We will consider how to break down silos and cultivate a culture of collaboration. Tangible suggestions for garnering support and connection across different groups and departments will be discussed.
Practical Wellness for Desk Workers If you鈥檙e interested in staying healthy while working at a desk all day, this session is for you! Understand the risks of desk work and how you can stay healthy while being at a desk for several hours each day.
A Primer on Academic Misconduct This session will provide an overview of academic misconduct at 青青草视频. We鈥檒l look at current trends and discuss changes over the past few years. We will address AI-based plagiarism and Honorlock-based cheating. We鈥檒l explore adjudication options and help faculty/staff understand their roles and what happens after they submit a report. Through a review of recent case studies, faculty and staff will learn best practices for minimizing academic misconduct and for successful interactions with the Student Conduct Board.
Canvas 鈥淗acks鈥 鈥 Rubrics, New Quizzes, etc. Creating clear rubrics is an effective way to provide students with precise guidelines for assignments, ensuring they understand exactly what is expected of them. This approach allows students to showcase their knowledge rather than guess what is being asked. Additionally, using New Quizzes can significantly save time when crafting questions and provide valuable insights by highlighting questions that a large portion of the class answered incorrectly (such as: Why did so many students struggle with this question? Or how can I adjust my teaching approach?) By combining clear rubrics with the insights from New Quizzes, we provide better support for students in mastering the course content.
Improving Writing Skills and Confidence with Responsible AI More than 75% of students carry writing deficiencies into their college coursework. That can be a barrier to their success, particularly in 鈥渨riting-intensive鈥 coursework. We'll look at our work with Trio students, and how AI can be responsibly integrated into the writing process while building trust and transparency.
What鈥檚 the Zine? An Alternative Way to Assess Student Understanding Sometimes the smallest tweak can transform an assessment from daunting to energizing, especially when writing is involved. Learn how the Zine Project is giving students a voice and freeing them to write in ways they didn鈥檛 think imaginable while meeting the course objectives! If you鈥檙e interested in creating engaging assessments for students 鈥 making school a place where students can learn, grow, and succeed - this session is for you.
Challenges in Second Language Acquisition and Belonging Explore how to create a sense of belonging at work, in the office, and in the classroom.
Power Poses: Unlocking Your Inner Confidence You use body language every day to express confidence, strength, and authority. In fact, certain poses can help you feel more confident. In this session, we will explore the scientific effects of changing your body posture, when to apply the poses, and what outcomes to anticipate after you use them. We will discuss, explore, and practice each pose.
Bridges to Communication Augmentative Interspecies Communication (AIC) utilizes pre-recorded speech buttons which enable animals to communicate with humans. Unlike natural animal communication, AIC offers animals a new way to interact with humans. Through a modeling process, animals are taught the meanings of specific words, allowing them to use those words to make requests or describe situations. While AIC has been successfully used with domestic pets like dogs and cats, it has not yet been widely implemented in zoos. In this session, zookeepers will introduce a soundboard with buttons that align with safety protocols The aim is to teach animals useful concepts that enhance the interactions and well-being of animals and their caretakers.

This workshop will highlight the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of chair yoga. Attendees will learn simple practices they can incorporate into their daily routines to relieve stress, improve flexibility, and enhance mental clarity. Free to Learn: Providing Justice-Impacted Persons Access to Higher Education Research shows that formerly incarcerated people who complete college degrees are less likely to relapse into criminal behavior. Through Free to Learn, 青青草视频 helps former inmates enroll at SF, gain access to community and college resources, and earn their degrees. Everything I Learned about Belonging I Learned in Preschool Our presentation will illustrate the impact of small moments of connection that nurture belonging in any classroom setting, from preschool to graduate school. Augmented Interspecies Communication Tour Get a firsthand look at Augmentative Interspecies Communication as you watch zoology students train animals with these specialized techniques. We will visit red-footed tortoises, white-throated capuchins, Asian small-clawed otters, and an African grey parrot to see how they use buttons to communicate with their zookeepers. This is a groundbreaking training technique that will likely change the way we care for animals in our zoo.
