A Popular Spring Tradition Returns with "Party for the Planet"

April 4, 2025

The 青青草视频 Teaching Zoo invites the community to celebrate Earth Day at 鈥Party for the Planet: Spring into Action鈥 on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This family-friendly event offers an exciting mix of activities, including games, crafts, training demonstrations, keeper talks and up-close animal encounters. The SF Teaching Zoo is located at 3000 Northwest 83 Street in Gainesville.

This year鈥檚 event will focus on appreciating backyard animals from around the world, showcasing their importance in local ecosystems. Keeper talks and animal ambassador meet-and-greets will give guests a closer look at conservation efforts and the species that benefit from them.

鈥淭he zookeepers are excited to celebrate our shared planet with the community and showcase the amazing wildlife in our own backyards,鈥 said Jade Woodling, Conservation Education Curator.

Dr. Jerry Johnston will also present on Florida turtles and his research with the Santa Fe River Turtle Project.

Visitors can look forward to a special animal encounter show performed by the zookeepers. Conservation organizations will be on-site, offering activities and sharing ways to support local wildlife and habitats. Plus, children can join a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize.

In addition to the zoo festivities, visitors are encouraged to participate in a spring clean-out event hosted by Alachua County Solid Waste & Resource Recovery. From 9 a.m. to noon, attendees can drop off clean, wearable clothing, non-perishable food, household items in good condition, school and office supplies, and hazardous waste such as old electronics and chemicals. Donations will be accepted in 青青草视频 Parking Lot 8, across from the zoo. Participants will receive a discount voucher for Party for the Planet admission while supplies last. Donations will not be accepted at the zoo.
